Flowerpiercers | Ecuador, 2013

Just  a very quick post of 2 flowerpiercers – awesome name for a bird in my opinion! They get their name from how they use their beak: they pierce the base of flowers to get to the nectar. Pay attention to the unusual shape of the beak. Taken last year in the Yanacocha Reserve, Ecuador.
